Not sure how many out there are Sirius Satellite subscribers but Dave Gahan (lead singer of DM) will be on Sirius Satellite Radio today (Dec 16) on channel 12. Details below. By the way, I mentioned in another post about catching "This is England" (at an indie/rep cinema), which I feel is a film that would fit the sensibility of this group. Unfortunately, because of time/scheduling constraints, I am not going to organize an outing for this particular film. Instead, I aiming to organize an outing with other indie film buffs, and whomever else is interested, to see "4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days" on Thursday, Dec 20 at 7:10PM at Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton St - near Yonge & College). 4M3W&2 D is a Romanian film with English subtitles. It won the top prize ("Palme d'Or") at the Cannes Film Festival this past year. Contact me directly for more details.
From Sirius' web site: 12/16 at 3 am, 2 pm and 11 pm ET Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan takes some time out from the holiday madness to share of his favorite songs, especially the ones he likes to play while on tour! What surprises does he have in store? You'll just have to find out yourself... http://www.sirius.com... Edited by Me on Dec 16, 2007 12:01 PM |

The show on Sirius was cool. Dave Gahan picked and talked about some of his favourite tunes including music by Beirut, White Stripes, David Bowie, Bob Marley and Johnny Cash (among others). By the way, there's an interesting show on Sirius Channel 22 called "Dark Wave" on Sundays 10PM-1AM EST. They basically play what DJ Lazurus would play during our DM Funhaus nights. It's also kind of like the Edge 102.1 FM's retro night on Sunday. For the record, I do NOT work for Sirius! Here's more info:
Dark Wave Sundays 10 pm - 1 am ET Explore the darker side of First Wave on Sunday nights with Christopher The Minister. Dark Wave is three hours of alternative rock from artists like Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Public Image Ltd, Depeche Mode and Love and Rockets. I do have Sirius (and was lucky enough to win a Joy Division pack from them), and can't stop raving about how awesome it is!!!! Especially First Wave Channel 22-it's absolutely great. I can't count the number of times I'll have just woken up or are starting to drift off to sleep and the opening bars of Strangelove or Never Let Me Down Again begin. It's awesome!!! And Dark Wave is one of the best radio shows I've ever heard, hands down. Christopher the Minister is wicked and responds to emails! Once I emailed him because I came home from work just in time to catch the last 5mins of his show, and he said he would play his fave DM tune-Shake the Disease, which is mine too:)
They have a free 3-day trial if you're interested, and you can listen online at work or w/ev. |
